If you’re looking to stock up on some gift cards and earn a generous payout, you might want to look at Rove Miles. Rove Miles is an OTA/shopping portal that offers miles when you book flights, hotels, or shop online. These miles can then be transferred to actual airline miles or hotel points.
Through August 5, Rove Miles is offering 4 miles per $1 spent at Giftcards.com. The deal is also valid on Visa and Mastercard gift cards. You can also stack this with a 1.5% cash back deal (up to $3 per transaction) from Citi Merchant Offers to offset the fees.
This is the highest bonus you can earn at GiftCards.com, aside from the Wyndham shopping portal, which also offers 4X points. But I’d argue Rove Miles are more valuable than Wyndham points – especially if you’re looking to stock up on airline miles.
Once you’ve made a qualifying purchase, your Rove Miles should post within 90 days. At that point, you can transfer the rewards to one of 12 airline and hotel transfer partners.
There is a $2,000 limit on purchases that qualify for 4X rewards.
How to maximize this deal
If you’re looking for a manufactured spending opportunity or want to knock out a credit card spending requirement quickly, this Rove Miles deal could be it. Just avoid using an Amex credit card, since Amex is known for clawing back points and welcome bonuses earned via gift card churning.
If you’re ready to maximize this deal, I would recommend following these steps:
- Check Citi Merchant Offers for additional rewards at giftcards.com and register your card.
- Sign up for Rove Miles with my referral link (we’ll both earn 500 bonus miles).
- Head to the Shopping tab and enter giftcards.com into the “Search stores” field.
- Click the “Shop” button to be directed to the giftcards.com website.
- Buy Visa or Mastercard gift cards in increments of $250 (the maximum).
You can choose from either a virtual Visa/Mastercard gift card or a physical one. Both card types have a $5.95 fee, but you’ll pay $1.99 for shipping if you opt for a physical card. The fees will largely be offset by the 4X rewards and 500-mile bonus you’ll receive for signing up for a new account. Plus, you’ll earn points from your credit card (in addition to 1.5% cash back via Citi Merchant offers).
You can also choose from hundreds of merchant and travel gift cards without a fee. These include Airbnb, Amtrak, Delta, Chevron, Nordstrom, and more.
Rove transfer partners
Rove’s transfer partner list is very similar to programs like Citi ThankYou Rewards and Capital One miles. It also includes a unique programs you won’t see on other transfer partner lists:
- Aeromexico Rewards
- Air France-KLM Flying Blue
- Air India Maharaja Club
- ALL – Accor Live Limitless
- Cathay Pacific Asia miles
- Etihad Guets
- Finnair Plus
- Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club
- Qatar Airways Privileges Club
- Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles
Final thoughts
If you’re gearing up for back-to-school shopping, you might want to consider buying a gift card during this promotion in order to earn some extra miles. Rove Miles has some valuable transfer partners and this promotion can help you stack up lots of miles for future travel.
I’ll be purchasing gift cards for everyday expenses rather than for churning purposes. Gift cards are a great budgeting tool and if I’m going to spend X amount this month on bills and everyday spending, why not earn 4X in addition to my credit card rewards?
Are you taking advantage of this Rove Miles deal? Would love to know who is in it for manufactured spending.
