Since IndiGo entered the India – Kazaksthan market in September 2023, the India – Kazakshtan market has seen a shift in the way Air Astana operates. The hitherto monopoly of Air Astana in a market which it had carefully developed over a decade saw IndiGo increase its freqeuncy to Daily within a year of starting operations.
Air Astana’s attempts to start other routes like Shymkent via its subsidiary Fly Arystan did not take-off well. The airline which operated between Astana and Delhi, has not resumed that service post pandemic.
The airline had plans of launching flights to Mumbai in June 2020, with flights being announced and available for sale. The pandemic ensured that the plans never materialised.
This summer, the airline is scheduled to start flights to Mumbai, from Almaty.
In NS25, the India – kazakhstan connectivity will be as follows,
- IndiGo
- Delhi – Almaty – Delhi (Daily Operations)
- Air Astana
- Delhi – Almaty – Delhi (11 times a week)
- Mumbai – Almaty – Mumbai (Thrice a week, begins April 20,2025)
- Fly Arystan
- Goa – Astana – Goa (twice a week)
