A civil tribunal in Geneva (Switzerland) has ordered the IATA (which is headquartered here) to freeze all overflight fees payments to the Italian state (among other measure unrelated to aviation).
Two articles: giornalediplomatico and tagesanzeiger (neither in English but Google translate makes a good job of it).
The underlying issue is about an investor trying to recoup monies due by the Italian state after a successful arbitration in his favour.
Does anyone remember a similar case (ie the overflight fees being used as a leverage) ?
