JetBlue, JFK Announce Terminal 5 Refresh – FlyerTalk

The refreshed Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport will feature a concourse inspired by the city parks and 40 news concessions, all expected to be finished by 2026.

JetBlue wants to bring more New York inspiration into their home space of Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

The airline and airport, along with terminal manager Fraport USA, announced a new direction for Terminal 5, including new designs and the addition of 40 new concessions.

Terminal 5 Improvements Expected to be Complete by End of 2026

The plan calls for transforming Terminal 5 to a space that features even more visual inspiration of the unique features in New York City. The center concourse will feature greenery inspired by the city’s parks, including benches, concrete chess tables, and new lighting features. The center will offer an open space for pop-up experiences, including performances and other events. Complementing the open space is a large art collection of 30 new pieces from New York-based artists.

Moving into the space will be numerous new storefronts, including 18 new local food and beverage options. A total of 40 new concessions and customer experiences will be added to the space, making it even more comfortable when travelers are awaiting their next flights.

While construction will take some time, the parties say progress is coming sooner rather than later. The concessions will begin opening throughout 2025, with the full transformation expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

“When it opened, Terminal 5 set a new standard for customer-focused airport design that reflected our mission of bringing humanity back to air travel,” Marty St. George, president of JetBlue, said in a press release. “This isn’t just about new dining and shopping—it’s about bringing the energy of New York into the terminal. From local flavors to spaces that capture the city we love, we’re making T5 more uniquely New York while staying unmistakably JetBlue.”

The re-development is part of a $19 billion improvement plan of JFK by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
