After Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy asked for ideas to Make Traveling with Family Great Again, users on X were eager to share their ideas.

When a cabinet-level official asks for ideas on social media, the opinions begin to flow.

That’s just what happened to current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, after he posted a video asking for unofficial public commentary.

TSA, Family Amenities Among Top Gripes

“Tell me how we can Make Traveling with Family Great Again!” the post on X reads. “There’s no better place to start a family than the USA so I want to make it easier for you to travel with your kids. Here’s your chance to tell me, your Transportation Secretary, what I can do to make travel easier for your family. Send me your best ideas!”

In return, the 20th Transportation Secretary received over 13,000 responses from travelers areound the world with their own ideas. Arguably, the biggest gripe was re-considering the role of the Transportation Security Administration in air travel.

After reimagining the TSA, another common complaint among travelers is making the experience more family friendly. Pointing to dedicated family lanes in other parts of the world, travelers asked for additional support to make flying with children easier.

Others asked for additional regulation over airlines and the fees charged for the travel experience. Feedback included doing more to ensure families sit together and reducing ancillary fees, similar to what was introduced under the watch of previous secretary Pete Buttigieg.

As an informal request, there’s no obligation for Duffy to formally review the many, many requests sent. However, flyers have made their position clear for when it comes time to review regulations – both existing ones and future requests.
