The First Swiss A350 Will Be Something Special!

Swiss International Air Lines is planning to introduce its first Airbus A350 later this year.

To mark the occasion, it is planning a special livery on the first aircraft which introduces the world to Switzerland and its landmarks and traditions.

The livery, named ‘SWISS Wanderlust’, spotlights the close ties between the airline and its home country and cities.

In a video introducing the new livery, employees of Swiss are given a first view and asked to call out the things they can spot in the scheme. They mention things like St Moritz, the Palace Hotel, the Locarno Film Festival, Bear Park and the Parliament Building.

When Will the Swiss A350 Be Delivered?

Swiss is expecting its first Airbus A350-941 aircraft to be delivered in the second quarter of this year, with an entry into service planned for the summer.

The aircraft will have registration HB-IFA (msn 737), with another nine aircraft expected.

Initial routes have not yet been announced, but expect some shorter services initially to aid in crew familiarisation with the new aircraft type.

About the Artist

The individual behind the special ‘SWISS Wanderlust’ livery is Swiss artist Frédéric Siegel, who is well known for his unique illustrations and animations. With his creative presentations of the various motifs featured, Siegel has transformed SWISS’s first Airbus A350-900 into the world’s first-ever flying art gallery.

Plane spotters can also take part in an interactive experience with the new livery.

All the illustrations which will be carried on the aircraft can be explored using augmented reality (AR) at swiss.com/treasurehunt. Users of this feature can discover hidden details, solve intriguing puzzles and – with a little luck – win the top prize of a round-trip Business Class flight for two aboard the new SWISS Airbus A350.
