TheDesignAir –Air France opens latest refreshed lounge in CDG’s 2E, Hall K

Navigating your way around CDG can be confusing at the best of times. Different Terminal numbers, different sub-terminals denoted by letters, and even different Halls, causing a myriad of confusion when it comes to locating a lounge that suits you. Thankfully, Air France has now updated all of its lounges, with Hall K the latest to join the ranks of these impressive spaces in Paris.

The lounge is dedicated to Air France Business and Flying Blue Elite Plus customers travelling on the airline’s long-haul network, as well as on certain non-Schengen medium-haul flights including most London flights, one of the most important city pairs on the airline’s short-haul network. It also welcomes eligible customers from KLM and Air France’s partner airlines in the SkyTeam alliance. Open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., it now has a total surface area of over 2,800 square metres spread over three levels and can seat 638 customers thanks to the increase in space by adding another level to the lounge.

The lounge follows the traditional red, white and blue interior palette that partner design studio SGK Brandimage has brought to other international lounges recently. Of course, no AF lounge would be complete without its iconic winged seahorse – its historic symbol – framing the entrance and to add a nod of heritage, posters on display reflect the carrier’s rich heritage and network.

Luckily it’s not completely branded, with a careful premium palette of other colours and textures breaking up the sea of navy blue. The use of oak wood and metallic champagne shades in the design of the space adds warmth and elegance. Carefully chosen, with some pieces being carefully reconditioned, the furniture is both taking an environmentally responsible approach, while ensuring highest quality finishes.

In a burgeoning design trend, the lounge plays to our olfactory senses as well thanks to the addition of Air France’s signature fragrance. Called AF001, this home fragrance was created by Francis Kurkdjian, the great French master perfumer and Artistic Director of Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Created with hints of jasmine and rose, its delicate floral aura takes travellers on a true olfactory journey, capturing a suspended moment in time. Its comforting musky scent, combined with mimosa from the south of France, adds a sunny, natural vibrancy.

However, the most noticeable addition is the upper floor which now offers two new areas, expanding seating in this often popular lounge. The “petit salon” is a relaxation space, ideal for reading or resting in a quiet, tastefully decorated environment, the space features a variety of individual or group seating options.

An adjacent work area combines functionality and comfort. With individual seating, a co-working space and a meeting room to attend online meetings in peace, it offers a serene, ergonomic and connected environment to meet customers’ working requirements.

In this new extended lounge, there is also a reserved private area for its Flying Blue Ultimate customers, similar to other lounges Air France operates across the network. The lounge also features a Clarins beauty treatment area featuring a range of complimentary facial treatments, which has been an Air France partner for nearly two decades.

As I do every year, I ask on your kind support to keep things going. If you are able to donate – whatever amount – it all gets funnelled back in to the site, to keep the site full of content. And I thank you personally for your kind support.
