Great news for United Airlines flyers: The stroopwafel is back!

United will once again offer the stroopwafel as a complimentary snack in the economy cabin on all flights over 300 miles long.

The iconic sandwich cookie, which consists of two thin wafflelike wafers with a layer of caramel in between, is a famous Dutch snack that United has served on and off for years — arguably to the point that many passengers associate United with stroopwafels.

In 2018, the airline scrapped the beloved snack before bringing it back a year later. Since the onset of the pandemic, it’s been offered inconsistently, with passengers reporting unexpected sightings and long absences in web forums and on social media.

United, however, seems to have gotten the message that it’s a fan favorite — especially heated over a cup of coffee for a minute or two.

In addition to the stroopwafel, United will continue serving two other snacks in domestic economy: the Undercover Quinoa Crisp with dark chocolate and sea salt, and the savory snack mix.

According to United, there are no plans to take the stroopwafel out of the rotation, so hopefully the sweet treat is here to stay.
