2026 Fiddlers Concert Series Continues with The Jim Hurst Band

The 2026 Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Concert Series, presented by Redstone Federal Credit Union, continues on Thursday, January 22 with a performance by The Jim Hurst Band. The concert will be held at Athens State University in McCandless Hall at 7:00 pm.

Jim Hurst’s unique picking style on guitar sets him apart from most of his contemporaries. He is recognized in Bluegrass and related genres as a multi-layered artist and performer.

Garnering numerous nominations, Jim received IBMA’s prestigious Guitar Player of the Year awards for 2001 and 2002. After recording and touring with several Country and Bluegrass artists, including Trisha Yearwood, Sara Evans, Holly Dunn, Claire Lynch, and David Grisman, Jim decided in 2010 to embark on a solo career to focus on his own musical creativity.

In 2021, Hurst released a much anticipated original single, “It’s A Beautiful Day,” which was received with gusto by radio and fans alike. The uplifting tune shot quickly up the Bluegrass Today Grassicana Chart to #2, where it spent 25 weeks on the chart.

Tickets for the show are $15.00 for adults/$5.00 for children and can be purchased by visiting www.athensfiddlers.org.

This event is brought to you by the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention Steering Committee and the Livingston Concert/Lecture Series, with funding made possible by grants from the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
