The Crimson Tide had massive struggles in the Clearwater Tournament, losing four of five while giving up five runs in the one win. Team29 finally gets their home Opening Day on Friday.
MIDWEEK
The Rocket City Trash Pandas (Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels) transformed their baseball stadium in Huntsville into a softball field for a midweek tournament. Alabama faced Jacksonville State on Tuesday and it was another one of those outscore-your-opponent affairs. The Tide won 7-4 highlighted by an Alexis Pupillo 3-run dinger and a 2-run round-tripper by Kali Heivilin (her third in the last 4 games). However, starter Catelyn Riley and reliever Jocelyn Briski gave up two earned runs each.
ACCOLADES
Tide freshman Audrey Vandagriff was named to the Clearwater All-Tournament Team. Considering there were 16 teams in the tournament, that is quite the honor. Despite her heroics so far this season, the SEC has yet to recognize her.
RANKINGS
As expected, Alabama’s rankings took a nosedive. D1Softball did not even rank the Tide. The other three have Bama at # 23/23/21.
INJURY REPORT
If you have been paying attention, you may have noticed that Kendal Clark has made only one appearance this season – as a pinch runner against Michigan State. It’s even more curious considering she was voted one of two team captains this year (Marlie Giles is the other). Word has it, she is recovering from a broken thumb, which as you can imagine would take awhile before getting back to swinging a bat. There is no official timetable on a return.
BAMA BASH SCHEDULE
Finally, the Crimson Tide is back home in Tuscaloosa for the home opener at the Rhoads House for the Bama Bash Invitational. Hopefully, sleeping in their own beds will do them some good.

The Hokies are ranked # 15/16/17/19. Their two losses were both to LSU in Baton Rouge. The one decent victory was over meh Northwestern who started the season ranked. The Gobblers have a .351 team batting average and 13 home runs. Annika Rohs is hitting .476. Emma Lemley has a 0.88 ERA and 45 strikeouts with only 4 walks.
DRAKE (1-3)
The Bulldogs are not a good team. If Alabama loses to them, they might as well cancel the rest of the season.
