The holidays are officially lighting up at the Birmingham Zoo! Glow Wild: An Animal Lantern Celebration opens Saturday, November 22 and will run on select nights through January 4. Tickets are now on sale, and group tickets are available for advance purchase.
Glow Wild has quickly become one of Birmingham’s favorite holiday traditions, and it’s back and brighter than ever. Presented by CHASE with support from Alabama Power and UAB Callahan Eye, this larger-than-life event transforms the Zoo into a glowing winter wonderland filled with color, creativity, and plenty of holiday magic. It was even recently named one of the top holiday escapes across the Southeast by Birmingham Home and Garden.

Lantern Trails
Stroll along a mile-long trail of artisan-crafted lanterns that celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature. Each step brings something new to discover as animals, plants, and scenes from the natural world come to life through brilliant light and color.
Seasonal Treats
Warm up with holiday snacks and drinks throughout the Zoo. Enjoy classics like s’mores and churros, or sip on festive favorites including apple cider and hot cocoa — with a spiked option available for guests 21+.
Holiday Village
Henley Lawn will once again transform into a cheerful Holiday Village complete with Santa visits, carolers, and fun photo opportunities. Be sure to check BirminghamZoo.com for updated schedules and appearance times.
Magical Rides
Take a ride on the Red Diamond Express Train and enjoy a twinkling view of the Zoo from aboard one of the most popular attractions of the season.
Wild Explorer VR
This year’s event also includes a limited-time virtual reality experience, “Elf Power, Inc.,” available at the Wild Explorer VR exhibit. Don’t miss the chance to add this immersive adventure to your Glow Wild visit.
