CHILLY MORNINGS, MILD AFTERNOONS: Beautiful weather across Alabama and the Deep South this week, with simply splendid, spring-like weather. The relative dry air is place allows for the big temperatures swings daily from the morning lows in the 30s and 40s, to afternoon highs in the mid and upper 70s. Today and tomorrow we are seeing tons of sunshine in that cobalt blue sky.
BIRMINGHAM ALMANAC: For February 25th, the average high for Birmingham is 62° and the average low is 41°. The record high is 82° set in 1918, while the record low is 12° set in 1967. We average 0.20” of precipitation on this date and the record value is 2.88” set in 1934.
ACROSS THE USA: The atmospheric river event will be diminishing today across the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. However, flooding concerns continue through today alongside gusty winds. These winds and drier conditions will favor an increase Fire Weather concerns for portions of the Plains and the island of Guam.
THURSDAY/FRIDAY: A weak cold front will bring some showers to Alabama Thursday, but with limited moisture, rain amounts will be less 1/4 inch, in fact most locations we expect to remain dry. Good news, there is no threat of severe weather. Sunshine and sightly cooler air flows back into the state Friday with highs near average values this time of year; lower and mid 60s.
HELLO MARCH: The new month starts off with incredibly pleasant weather for Alabama; sunny pleasant days and fair chilly nights. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s, lows will be mostly in the 30s and 40s. Get out there and enjoy this weekend, it will be the best weekend of weather so far in 2025.
NEXT WEEK: The mild weather continues into next week with highs in the 60s and 70s; lows will be in the 40s. A few showers are possible Monday with a quick moving system, but rain should be light and spotty. By midweek, a more potent storm system should move through the state, likely bringing rain and storms, some of which could be strong. Despite what you may be seeing on social media, it is way too early to know if severe storms will occur, and in the coming days we will have better clarity. However, it is severe weather season and it is entirely possible, but let us in the weather department worry about it until next week. My advice, get out and enjoy this beautiful weather we are experiencing this week and through the weekend.
