A dry start to the day is giving way to increasing rain chances across western Alabama by the afternoon, as a cold front approaches from the northwest. While no thunderstorms are expected, light to moderate rain will spread across much of the state tonight, lingering into Monday before moving south and east. Highs today will range from the 40s in the northwest, where clouds and early rain will keep temperatures cooler, to the upper 50s and low 60s in the south.
By Monday night, high pressure will build in, bringing briefly cooler conditions with lows in the upper 20s north to upper 30s south. A warming trend begins Tuesday, with increasing moisture and a shift in winds allowing temperatures to gradually climb through the workweek. By Wednesday, scattered showers may develop as deep moisture moves in, though significant rainfall is not expected until late in the week. A stronger system is projected to approach by Friday or Saturday, bringing the potential for heavier rain and possibly a strong storm or two, though instability remains limited at this time.
