No matter where you are located, your severe weather threats will come from damaging thunderstorms winds of up to 60 MPH, and tornadoes. The south and southwestern parts of the state stand a greater chance for tornadoes, especially a strong tornado or two. The rest of the state will have a lesser risk for tornadoes, most likely in the form of the quick spin-up variety embedded within the main squall line of storms. No matter what your color is for your risk level, the weather does not care about locations or colors on a map. If your location is in a color on the SPC Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook map, you are i a risk for severe storms making an impact.
Please stay weather aware, especially since this system will be impacting the state as most will be in bed and asleep. Go ahead have your places of safety ready to go, or have your severe weather safety plan ready to enact if your location goes under a warning. If you are in a manufactured home, please make preparations to get to a safe place well ahead of time. Have those phones charged and fresh batteries in your NOAA Weather Radio.
