Strong Storms Moving Into North Alabama This Evening

A line of showers and gusty thunderstorms is currently moving into northern Alabama as of 9:22pm CST. While these are not severe (and likely will not become severe), they are producing some lightning as well as gusty winds. The strongest part of the line may impact Huntsville, Athens, and Scottsboro over the next 90 minutes or so.

If you are near these storms and can hear thunder, that means you are close enough to be struck by lightning so please head indoors until these pass. They should not last too long in any one location. Brief heavy rain and isolated wind gusts over 30mph may also occur in some areas.

We expect a gradual weakening trend with these storms into just remnant showers as they continue to move south into the northern third of Alabama later tonight.
