Getting the last word on The Last Word, iconic Italian distiller Luxardo is cornering the market on the classic cocktail with the stateside release of Del Santo Herbal Liqueur. Well-known for their Maraschino Originale liqueur—also a key component in the cocktail—Luxardo produces a wide range of liqueurs and distillates. And Del Santo has long been available in European markets.
Launched in the United States earlier this year, Del Santo is produced with a broad botanical bill of herbs, roots, and spices, including mace, galangal, clove, calamus, and achillea moschata, a perennial native to the Alps. The resulting liqueur is bittersweet and herbaceous with subtle floral notes and a lingering spice on the finish. And at 40% ABV versus green Chartreuse’s 55%, Luxardo’s herbal liqueur makes for a more approachable Last Word. $39.99, kegnbottle.com
