Italy’s Argea Acquires U.S. Importer WinesU

March 14, 2025

Italian Wine Group Argea, with revenue of €465 million ($505m) and volume of 14 million cases, has acquired Pennsylvania-based importer WinesU for an undisclosed sum. Argea says the move consolidates its business in the U.S., which accounts for 30% of its total exports.

WinesU counts among its brands Zaccagnini (part of the Argea portfolio), Villa Puccini, and Nicolas Potel, among others, with annual sales of $35 million. In addition to Zaccagnini in Abruzzo, Argea’s wineries include Botter in Veneto; Poderi dal Nespoli in Emilia-Romagna; and Cuvage, Ricossa, and MGM Mondo del Vino in Piedmont.

“The acquisition of WinesU is a pivotal step in Argea’s international growth journey, reaffirming the strategic importance of the United States as our leading market in terms of sales and revenue,” said Argea CEO Massimo Romani.
