Dewar’s Unveils New Double Double 21-Year-Old Limited Edition
Dewar’s blended Scotch whisky, part of the Bacardi portfolio, is adding to its Double Double series of whiskies with a new 21-Year-Old Magma Stone Toasted expression. Retailing at $140 a 750-ml., the limited edition is bottled at 46% abv and is finished in virgin French Oak casks that have never been previously filled and were stone-toasted using Icelandic magma rock.
According to the company, the technique “harnesses controlled, radiant heat from pre-heated Icelandic magma stones, allowing for more precise, even toasting” across the barrels. “We are always looking to push the boundaries and find new ways to do things, and this new finishing process has unlocked an entirely new spectrum of flavor for Scotch,” said Stephanie Macleod, Dewar’s master blender. Dewar’s has been at approximately 900,000 cases in the U.S. in recent years, according to Impact Databank.
