April 4, 2025

A record 2.7 million guests made stops along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 2024, an 8% jump over 2023. Last year’s record continues the Trail’s post-pandemic recovery, with 2024 marking the third year in a row with over two million visitors. Over the last two decades, more than 25 million people have stopped along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Last year alone, guests stopped by from all 50 states and more than 20 countries covering six continents.

The trail is a major economic engine for the Bluegrass state, creating nearly 25,000 jobs, with Bourbon tourism generating over $9 billion. According to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association more than 75% of tourists are from out-of-state and 62% of tourists have incomes exceeding $100,000 per year. In all, the typical Trail tourists spend between $600 and $1,400 during their visits to Kentucky. Created in 1999, the Trail has grown from seven original members to 60 today.
