We love it when an established brand stretches its wings and tries something different. For decades, there was only one Maker’s Mark expression, then came the Maker’s 46 (which we love!), then the Cask Strength, and so on and so on…
Their latest release is called Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged. It’s a blend of 11- and 12-year-old Bourbons. Here’s a bit more information about this brand new Bourbon expression taken directly from the Maker’s Mark website:
Aging our whisky for over 10 years wasn’t something we ever did. Not because we didn’t believe in it but because we hadn’t found our way of doing it. Maker’s Mark® Cellar Aged defines an older whisky that’s distinctly Maker’s. By embracing both the unique impact that our warehouse and cellar maturation have on flavor, we’ve created an older expression that is richer and more complex whilst staying true to the founder’s taste vision of bourbon without the bite.
For those keeping score, this whiskey clocks in at 115.5 Proof and has an MSRP of $150. All we can say to that is YOWZA!
