Background
Novoru Brewing, styled as NOVORU Brewing, is a microbrewery that opened in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki in December 2023. They focus on brewing beer using local ingredients, and offer a variety of beers that incorporate their own recipes and styles. Based on the concept of “connecting with the community,” they aim to promote the charm of the region through beers that reflect the local culture and climate.
Ryo Osada, head brewer, studied abroad in Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, during the third year of university. After returning from Canada, he wanted to establish a brewery in Miyazaki. Moreover, he wanted to spread the variety and delicious beer to Miyazaki. Having decided to enter the world of craft beer, he dropped out of the Faculty of Education at Miyazaki University and spent about five years training at three craft breweries outside the prefecture.
The brewery started in 2022, though their beers were being made under contract at Daisen G Beer, with beers originally being sold in bottles. Novoru Brewing began a crowdfunding campaign to open up their own brewery, alongside a canning line to help reduce wastage.
