Review: 2018 Riboli Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford

Riboli is part of the somewhat sprawling San Antonio Winery winemaking operation, standing as its most premium label with just one expression under its wing: Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2018 release is a deep, dark, and brooding, this wine is dripping with notes of blackcurrants and licorice candy, offering an intensely sweet experience that eventually moves from its black fruit origins into more exotic climes — featuring dried florals, blackberry cobbler, and loads of chocolate. Gently nutty at times, the tannins here are fully integrated and ironed out. After the initial rush of syrupy fruit, the wine begins to seriously grow on you, ultimately evoking a rich balsamic glaze. Decadent.
