South Horizon Pacifica Common : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

The beer poured out a light amber, orange colour with a plump, frothy head on top. That head didn’t last long with the bubbles popping quickly. There were a few streaks down the side of the glass during drinking though they didn’t last long either.

It had a strong floral aroma with a medium amount of nuttiness present. The malts brought some sweetness too, with a clear biscuity aroma. As the beer warmed up, an orange marmelade aroma began to develop alongside some light citrus notes.

The body began with a low to medium level of bitterness that lingered during drinking. As in the aroma, the initial taste was of the malts. Roasted biscuit notes remained throughout, with a smidgen of marmalade quality to the beer. It tasted a little jammy, in a good way, and was smooth too. Finally, the orange flavour stuck into the aftertaste, with a slight stickiness to the body.

The Bottom Line

I can see why this beer won awards. It’s really good and shows off Pacifica hops nicely.
