House of Pocket is back with a brand-new spot, and this time, they’re serving up Sri Lankan vibes with a side of cocktails. Welcome to Kasippu—part curry house, part hidden bar, all about good food, great drinks, and even better times.

A Wadiya-Style Feed & More

Right up front, you’ve got the Wadiya, a Sri Lankan-style curry house dishing up the real deal, thanks to Head Chef Amila Hemchandra.
Inspired by a trip back home, Amila wanted to bring the flavours of Sri Lanka straight to
Sydney, from high-end eats to village-style comfort food. And yep, that includes a
late-night Pepper Beef Curry Kebab and even a free Hydralyte slushie to keep the night
going.

Cocktails with a Lankan Twist

Wander through the curry house, and you’ll stumble upon a semi-hidden cocktail bar—a laid-back spot where Sri Lankan flavours meet top-notch mixology. The bar takes inspiration from kasippu (Sri Lanka’s famous homemade liquor), which means almost everything—syrups, cordials, tinctures—is made in-house.
Expect signature drinks that shake things up, like the Falooda Milk Punch (coconut rum,
strawberry shrub, rose syrup, coconut milk, strawberry jelly) or the South-East Side
(turmeric-infused gin, lime, pandan, mint). With 16 signature cocktails, 37 classics, and a bar crew that knows their stuff, you’re in for a proper session.

More Than Just a Bar
Kasippu isn’t just about food and booze—it’s also got live entertainment, curated by Vyva Entertainment. Think live music, stand-up comedy, and even karaoke (because nothing says “good night out” like belting out a tune after a spicy feed). Sitting in the YCK Laneways precinct, Kasippu joins one of Sydney’s top late-night destinations. Good eats, solid drinks, and a buzzing atmosphere—what more do you need?

House of Pocket: A Sydney Small Bar OG
If you know Sydney’s small bar scene, you’ve probably heard of House of Pocket.
They kicked things off back in 2009 with Pocket Bar in Darlinghurst and have been
shaping the city’s drinking scene ever since, with spots like Stitch Bar, Button Bar, and
Crooked Tailor. Now, after four years, they’re back with Kasippu—bringing the best of Sri
Lankan hospitality to the heart of Sydney.
