Steps to Practice Autogenic Training

Step 1: Set Up

Find a cosy spot to lie down or comfortably lean back in a chair. Remove your glasses and loosen any tight clothing. Remember, comfort is key here!

Step 2: Breathing

Begin by taking a few deep breaths. Then gently tell yourself six times, “I’m completely calm.” It’s like telling your brain, “Relax, we’ve got this.”

Step 3: Focus on Body Parts

Shift your attention to different body parts, releasing tension and relaxing them. Start with your arms and silently repeat six times, “My arms are weighty.” Then, affirm, “I am completely calm.” Refocus on your arms and repeat, “My arms are very warm.” It’s like whispering sweet nothings to your limbs!

Continue this pattern with other body parts: legs, abdomen, chest, and forehead. Finish by calmly repeating, “My heartbeat is calm and regular. I am completely calm.” By now, you should feel like you’re floating on a cloud!
