NonSeq: Judith Berkson + Cleek Schrey
Fri. June 13, 8 PM; $5 – $20 in advance/at door

Judith Berkson (Los Angeles) explores tuning by navigating the small differences in pitch that alter perception and activate memory. She’ll sing with pre-recorded vocal tracks in equal temper-ament, alternating between through-composed and improvised sections with electronics. Cleek Schrey is a fiddler, composer, and filmmaker from Virginia, now based in NYC. He explores melodies and harmonies inspired by different re-tunings of his 10-stringed Hardanger D’amore, a violin with sympathetic strings.

Experimental ambience, music, sound art, and visual works by artists from across the US, coming on the heels of this year’s Campbient session, organized by REALMOREREAL: Violet Palace (Olympia), Leora Malka (Los Angeles), Julia Edith Rigby (Santa Ana, CA), BC Welsh (Seattle), Mary Edwards (Brooklyn), Jak McKool (Seattle), Perri Lynch Howard (Twisp), Cheyenne Hendrickson (Everett), Theo Krantz (Sante Fe), Jenn Howd (Cincinnati).

Drones, Zones and Tones
Thu. June 19, 7:30 PM; $5 – $20 at the door

A quadruple-header of free improvisation groups drawing from drone, old-time, no-wave, noise and beyond. Water Shrews listens to the sounds of sticks, reeds, strings, whoops and hollers in order to breathe and then play along. Friends of the Road is a string band exploring longform acoustic drones rooted in a melting pot of american-primitive, dhrupad, free improv, and folk tunes. CSTMR is guitarist Tom Scully and drummer Casey Adams. ‘what’ is A.F. Jones (pedal steel) and Dave Abramson (drums).

NonSeq: Marina Albero, “Undefined”
Fri. June 20, 8 PM; $5 – $20 in advance/at door

What makes all of us the same? What makes each one of us unique? This world premiere explores both sides of the human experience and invites you to “undefine” yourself through music, words and images. With Marina Albero (piano), Omar Wiley (text), Leanna Keith (flute), Heather Bentley (viola), and video artist Blazinspace.

Dowsing
Sat. June 21, 8 PM; $10 at the door

Saxophonist Steve Griggs, synthesist Ruben Griggs, and percussionist Greg Campbell reunite as Dowsing, a free-improv interplay between acoustic jazz and ambient electronics.
