CR&M, an eclectic trio with roots in Camden’s live music scene and a newfound focus on ambient and cinematic soundscapes, present two compelling tracks: Mir and Continue. These pieces capture the trio’s journey of rediscovery, blending years of diverse influences into atmospheric, immersive compositions.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Aphex Twin, Applefish, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Brian Eno, Mir is a meditative ambient track shaped by slow-building synth tones. The piece begins minimally, with subtle, steady layers that evolve into a rich texture. Organic-sounding elements emerge within the electronic framework, evoking the silent beauty of space. The track’s deliberate progression mirrors the stillness and vastness of its celestial inspiration, creating a sense of introspection and calm.
Built around a driving arpeggio, Continue weaves intricate layers of synth harmonies and rhythmic pulses. As the track progresses, its chord sequence shines through, adding depth and warmth to the growing soundscape. The interplay of textures and melodies reflects CR&M’s dedication to crafting music that evolves naturally, balancing structure with an organic flow
CR&M’s story began in Camden’s indie music venues, where they performed as a five-piece band in their youth. After going their separate ways, the trio reunited during the lockdown, using the time to experiment with new sounds and approaches. Armed with home recording tools and inspired by their individual musical journeys, they began creating a fresh, genre-blurring sound.
Their music combines influences from ambient, classical, drone, rock, and jazz, often beginning with acoustic instruments before incorporating vintage synths, foley recordings, and layered vocals. The result is a sound that sometimes defies easy categorisation yet feels deeply personal and expressive.
