John Also Bennett – Easter Daydream: Ambient Flute and Field Recording Textures – Frequency State

Easter Daydream by John Also Bennett blends warm, low-register flute tones with environmental recordings captured during a day-long Orthodox Holy Week procession outside his apartment in Athens. The result is a composition rooted in place, with gentle melodic elements and ambient layers that build a calm, immersive listening experience.

As the lead single from Ston Elaióna—his first solo album for Shelter Press since 2019’s Erg Herbe—the track exemplifies Bennett’s subtle, electroacoustic approach. The bass flute, paired with Yamaha DX7ii textures, evokes a sense of stillness while capturing the atmosphere of early morning recording sessions. Ambient recordings add an urban and organic presence to the soundscape, enhancing the connection between acoustic performance and lived environment.

John Also Bennett, also known under the alias JAB, has long explored the interplay between minimal instrumentation and spatial acoustics. His background in classical flute and deep involvement in experimental and ambient music make Easter Daydream a natural continuation of his introspective sonic explorations.
