Liza Bec Shares Atmospheric Debut Single “The Roof”

Liza Bec’s debut single The Roof introduces a distinctive blend of ambient textures and live performance energy, recorded at Real World Studios in Dolby Atmos. The track opens with expressive woodwind lines that glide and rise over a sustained Hammond organ backdrop, creating a slow-building, meditative atmosphere. The woodwinds weave in and out with a lyrical, improvisational quality, contrasting with the organ’s grounding presence.

The Roof sets the tone for Bec’s forthcoming full-length album, due April 25th, with second single Mass arriving April 4th. The project draws from their broad background in both science and music, merging conceptual ideas with immersive sound design.

Trained in classical clarinet and a qualified doctor, Liza’s journey through illness and recovery has shaped a deeply personal and exploratory approach to music-making. Diagnosed with a rare form of music-triggered epilepsy, they turned to improvisation as a way to reconnect with their instruments—an approach that now underpins much of their creative output.

Liza Bec’s work spans multimedia production, live performance, and serial storytelling, with ongoing projects including the monthly Spiral Dial podcast. The Roof marks a confident step into long-form recorded work, bringing together classical training, improvisation, and ambient electronics in a carefully crafted sonic environment.

The Roof is available now on all major streaming platforms.
