New Grand River Album Transforms Wind into Music

Berlin-based composer and sound designer Aimée Portioli, known as Grand River, will release her new album Tuning The Wind on March 7 via the Umor Rex label. The album consists of a single 36-minute track that she has performed for international audiences and has now been recorded, with mastering by Rafael Anton Irisarri at Black Knoll.

Exploring the relationship between nature and music, Tuning The Wind is built around recorded wind sounds that have been layered and tuned, at times aligning with the 440 Hz reference and at others shaping the instruments around the wind’s natural tones. The result is an immersive blend of electronic synthesis and environmental sound.

The album will be available on vinyl and digitally. Ahead of the release, a Bandcamp Listening Party is scheduled for March 4 at 10 PM Berlin time. Fans can listen to the album in full for the first time, discuss and ask questions to the Dutch-Italian artist.
