This morning, we are back with the LA-based Dragon’s Eye Recordings, curated and operated by Yann Novak. This label materializes from the liminal spaces of experimental music, positioning itself as a cartographer of sonic territories often overlooked by mainstream institutions. Founded with an almost monastic dedication to artistic integrity, it is a vital conduit for artists whose work transcends conventional categorization. One of these artists is Timothy Fairless, an Australian composer and video artist, producing atmospheric ambiance with field recordings and synthesized acoustics, often accompanied by immersive audiovisual performances. For his upcoming album, Keep Talking to Me, Fairless focuses on the culmination of technology and language, and what makes it all come together to create meaningful narratives. “Built from a generative sound installation, the work reassembles fragments of overheard conversations, creating a sonic environment where meaning is constantly shifting.” Like a fever-induced daydream, the swirling kaleidoscope of sounds is only enhanced by the visuals, which I am happy to share with you today.
