Indiana Historical Society Celebrates Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Asian Fest

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS), in partnership with the Asian American Alliance Inc. (AAAI), is proud to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with the 19th Annual Asian Fest, a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of culture, community and connection.
Asian Fest 2025 will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center (450 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis). Asian Fest showcases the rich cultural heritage of Indiana’s Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, which include more than 175,000 residents representing over 45 countries. Guests will enjoy a full day of live performances, hands-on activities, and interactive exhibits designed to entertain and educate.
Highlights of Asian Fest 2025 include:
- Cultural Performances – Over 15 local arts organizations will present live music, traditional dance, martial arts demonstrations, and folk art.
- Global Flavors – Food vendors will offer authentic cuisine from across Asia.
- Interactive Cultural Booths – Dive into traditional crafts, explore unique artifacts, and connect with local community groups and event sponsors.
- Family Activities – Engage kids and adults alike with games, art projects, and educational activities in Eli Lilly Hall.
“As much as Asian Fest is a fun festival, it also serves as an educational program for Hoosiers to learn about Asian culture,” said AAAI President Rupal Thanawala. “You can discover a new musical instrument, explore an art form, or even pick up a few words of a new language.”
