20 X New hotspots in Amsterdam with great terraces

Leo

The latest addition to the Goudvisch family (Bonnie, Arie, Polly, etc.), but definitely not the least. Located on the always lively Beukenplein, with a huge terrace. As expected from this group, it’s perfectly set up with partitions and heaters, so it’s suitable for any weather. But those cosy “eetcafé” dishes taste best in the sunshine.

V12

V12 says it best themselves: great food at an affordable price (€32.50 for 3 courses!), plenty of space, and a sunny terrace. Located in an old metalworking shop, it has that real Amsterdam-North vibe. Bonus: open for lunch on weekends and every day until late.
Veldbiesstraat 10, Amsterdam – v12-restaurant.

Turbo

Coffee spot and a snack bar (yes, with a space in between). Turbo, the sibling of Buurtcafé de Tros, is no ordinary snack bar. You’ll find exciting bites and snacks here. Open from 8 AM for speciality coffee and pastries. End your day with natural wine and their homemade kroket sandwich.
Reinwardtstraat 1, Amsterdam – turboamsterdam.nl

Massalia

At the time of writing, Massalia is about to open, but we trust anything Angelo does. Gitane was his first solo venture, and what a success it is. Massalia opens on Beukenplein with a large terrace, serving dishes that will transport you straight to Marseille.

Bisous

Previously known as Floryn, now Bisous. This place has international allure and a lovely terrace on Albert Cuypstraat. Dine here in Parisian style, and after dinner, feel free to linger into the early hours.

Auberge

No more ‘Jean & Marie’, but the French classics remain strong on the menu. You’ll find this terrace on Albert Cuypstraat as well, where you can enjoy a long evening at beautifully set tables. The white linens will have you craving a chilled glass of red with Oeuf en meurette.

Jacob

Here, you can follow the sun all day long. From breakfast to dinner and evening drinks, the terrace is spacious and always lively. Whether you sit on the building’s terrace or on the bridge, you’re in for a treat this summer.

Mata Hari

How often do you still visit the Red-Light District as a local? Mata Hari gives you a great reason to return. The terrace is set along one of Amsterdam’s oldest canals, offering a charming vibe. Fill your table with French-inspired dishes and don’t forget the cocktails for a perfect summer evening.

20 X New hotspots in Amsterdam with great terraces

Breman Brasserie

Not the newest on this list, but Breman Brasserie’s terrace is now officially open. It’s huge, even impressive. Lounge chairs and cosy corners are everywhere, and there’s even a dedicated play area for kids. You can’t go wrong with their burger, but we recommend trying other items from the menu.

Badhuis

Badhuis is more than just a restaurant; it’s also a cultural venue with a fantastic monthly programme. And, not to forget, it has one of the nicest terraces in Amsterdam-Oost. You’re welcome for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and even the occasional dance.
Javaplein 21, Amsterdam – badhuisamsterdam.nl

Badcuyp

Formerly Escobar, now a neighbourhood restaurant with a strong focus on wine and delicious food cooked over an open flame. The owners have experience at Rijsel, Troef, and Bar du Champagne. If that’s not a stamp of approval, we don’t know what is.
Eerste Sweelinckstraat 10, Amsterdam – badcuypamsterdam.nl

Bennies

If you go out of your way to cycle to Bennies, you’ll be rewarded not only with great food but also a wonderful terrace. Nestled among industrial buildings, you’ll feel lucky to have discovered this hidden gem.

Café Soleil

In the heart of a vibrant part of Amsterdam-North, at least in terms of restaurants, you’ll find Café Soleil. Rain or shine, with a menu full of Mediterranean comfort food, the sun is always shining here.
Papaverhoek 31, Amsterdam – cafesoleilamsterdam.nl

Café Enté

Dining outdoors on Lindengracht is always a treat. We’ve done it at Il Fiore, and now, where Il Fiore once stood, Café Enté has taken over. Plenty of room for walk-ins and a menu perfect for shared dining.

Kafe Kontrast

Not the newest on the list, but now with a terrace too. Kafe Kontrast combines Scandinavian and Indonesian cuisine for brunch and dinner. The terrace may be small, but it’s absolutely worth a visit.
Ceintuurbaan 71 H, Amsterdam – kafekontrast.com

De Tulp

Completely renovated and improved! De Tulp, once known as the green jungle on Marie Heinekenplein, is now fresh and vibrant again. What hasn’t changed is the huge terrace, where there’s (almost) always a spot available.

Barracuda Bar

You’ve probably already heard of this hotspot, as Barracuda is soaring in popularity. Why is it still on the ‘new’ list? Well, they’ve just opened Barracuda Bar, a few doors down! Beach beds, cocktails with little umbrellas, and a menu full of summery dishes to share.
Aambeeldstaat 10, Amsterdam – barracuda.amsterdam

Ferry

Ferry is a truly unique restaurant, located on a 100-year-old ferryboat now docked at the Houthavens. During the summer months, they serve great food and drinks on the sunniest floating terrace in Amsterdam. In the winter, they open as an event venue—perfect for all those Christmas parties.

Tannay

At Tannay, formerly De Gouden Reael, you can enjoy a terrace view of the IJ and Silodam. It’s a truly unique spot. Perhaps the most beautiful terrace in Amsterdam-West, where you can enjoy exquisite French dishes surrounded by the monumental buildings of Prinseneiland.

Cenc

Sadly, Bambino is no longer with us, but Cenc is a worthy replacement. Run by the same team behind Bar Parry, you can expect great wine and equally fantastic dishes. On Vijzelgracht, enjoy the best small plates, but be sure to save room for the soft serve with olive oil and sea salt.
