Café Twee Prinsen Amsterdam // Your Little Black Book

In no time at all, the stools at Café Twee Prinsen Amsterdam grew into an iconic status symbol. Because those who matter, sit on the somewhat uncomfortable stools of this sunny spot at the first sign of sunshine. Jokes and internet memes aside, Café Twee Prinsen is and remains a truly lovely place—especially when the sun is shining.

Atmosphere and interior at Café Twee Prinsen Amsterdam

Jokingly, the Twee Prinsen stool received its own Instagram account in 2022. By now, the stools have (partly) been replaced by slightly more comfortable versions, but the slightly chaotic terrace of Twee Prinsen remains iconic.

Since early 2022, this café has become a household name in the city. Locals and day-trippers just can’t seem to stay away. And who could blame them? In and around this corner building on the intersection of Prinsenstraat and Prinsengracht, the sun always seems to shine. And if it really doesn’t, you can sit cosily inside with a glass of red and perhaps a board game.

The interior of Twee Prinsen is bright and full of wood accents. It has a vibe of a traditional brown café meets wine bar, but in its most modern form. All in all, it’s a snug yet inviting spot. Anyone in the mood for a cup of coffee, a glass of wine or alcohol-free bubbles is more than welcome.

Menu and dishes at Café Twee Prinsen

Aside from being all about (natural) wines and pet nats, Café Twee Prinsen offers a truly lovely menu featuring tasty bites and small dishes. If you’re here for an extended aperitif, you certainly won’t leave hungry. In fact, the menu satisfies the appetite enough that you won’t need dinner elsewhere. What do they serve? A rotating menu that includes sourdough (baguette), sardines, butter beans in red sauce, rillettes, cime di rapa and more.

Besides wines by the glass, they offer an extensive bottle list, which the staff gladly fetch from the cellar with care. There’s also no shortage of ciders and alcohol-free options.
