Gastropub Rokin 85 Amsterdam // Your Little Black Book

Gastropub Rokin 85 Amsterdam is a great addition to the city. This spot is perfect for all ages and offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere right in the heart of Amsterdam. Here’s everything you need to know.

Atmosphere and Interior at Gastropub Rokin 85 Amsterdam

On the Rokin, hospitality tycoon Won Yip merged five buildings into one. And that’s where you’ll now find his spacious yet cosy gastropub. The interior makes this place feel so inviting without giving the impression of an overwhelming space. He curated it himself, which was quite the journey. He travelled across Europe to search for antiques and had the rest custom-made. The result? It is a classic and characterful gastropub with hints of England and Amsterdam.

Menu and Dishes at Gastropub Rokin 85

The menu is extensive and varied, according to the owner. There are two reasons for this: due to the size of the venue, they can operate at high volume and therefore keep the prices lower. That’s remarkable in times like these, making this an excellent spot for those on a smaller budget. It also allows Gastropub Rokin 85 to appeal to a broader audience, from young to old. After all, a gastropub is rarely visited alone — you’re likelier to go with friends, a date or family. So there must be something for everyone.

And what exactly is on the menu? Plenty of classics. Breakfast is served from 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM, so even the hungover crowd can enjoy a late breakfast at the weekend. Choose from croissants, French toast, yoghurt with granola, avocado toast, or a steak sandwich. Those needing something heartier will, of course, go for the Van Dobbe croquettes on white bread. The same goes for lunch; both are available from morning till early afternoon.

The drinks menu is equally classic but with even more Dutch delights. Bitterballen, mini hotdogs and cheese cubes are favourites. But the two types of bao buns are worth a try.

For dinner, you’ve got just as many options. A classic Caesar salad is prepared with as much care as the more indulgent chicken burger. Of course, you can also order fish & chips and a double Smashburger. It is — and always will be — a gastropub, after all.
