Pelusa Amsterdam is a no-nonsense gastropub in Amsterdam Noord. This relatively new spot is popular among Noord residents and curious visitors from other neighbourhoods. Day-trippers, especially beer enthusiasts, can’t get enough of this place.
Atmosphere and interior at Pelusa Amsterdam
Pelusa Amsterdam’s motto? ‘Just one more!‘ And it suits them perfectly. With such a wide selection of craft beers, the temptation to have just one more is overwhelming—whether you plan to or not. This is a venue where you can enjoy drinks just as much as a great meal. No unnecessary frills or fuss. It’s simply good.
The interior matches the philosophy behind this place: not too many embellishments. Bar stools, chairs, and tables that could have come straight from an old pub combined with an industrial look. And surprisingly, it works well.

Menu and dishes at Pelusa
Pelusa Amsterdam’s menu is refined yet uncomplicated. There are always three main dishes to share (for at least two people). A large grill does the work. Rump steak with chimichurri is a great choice, as is red mullet with Dutch shrimp sauce and pumpkin with duxelles.
As for snacks, the devilled eggs with smoked eel crème are a must (you won’t believe how good they are!), and the bread from Keppler is precisely what you’d hope for. Side dishes are kept simple: just salad and potatoes. It’s much like you’d have at home, but just a little bit better.
The Pelusa cheesecake is one for the books. With an unusual combination of red beetroot and classic ingredients, you must save room for it.
And then there’s the massive drinks menu. The beer selection, in particular, deserves an award. As one of the few places in Amsterdam, they serve ‘wild beer,’ which is fermented in a unique way using bacteria and natural airborne yeasts. Not a beer lover? No problem. The selection of ciders and natural wines is just as impressive.
