We definitely follow a cadence when we are in Paris, but this particular day, we shook it up by returning to Mokochaya for breakfast. The strawberry scone was top-notch; there’s nothing quite as good as the perfect scone. After we left, we popped our heads in Mokonuts to tell Moko she has another hit on her hands.

The Pompidou is about to undergo a seven-year renovation, which is a considerable amount of time. It is a bummer because the Pompidou always hits. The shows have always been well curated.

We went to see Paris Noir, an exhibition that traces fifty years of Black artists, with a particular focus on those who have been overlooked in art history—a fantastic show.

At the top of the museum is where all the touted exhibitions take place, next to the restaurant Georges. There was a time when Georges was delicious and happening, and those days are long gone but we felt compelled to have a meal (struggled to order) and a drink before it closes for the next seven years. The Pompidou is parting ways with this restaurant so we are looking forward to seeing what ends up there.

We take the metro everywhere when we are in Paris. The system has evolved over the years, just like all urban transportation systems. I still remember buying tokens for the New York City subway system. There was a time when you would buy a ticket for the metro in Paris and have to hold on to it to exit just like you entered but putting the ticket into the slot and grabbing it on the other end as the door opens. Over the years, you did not need the ticket to exit. Most days I would keep the ticket in my pocket until the ride was over before tossing it but this day, I decided to toss it immediately after entering the train. When we got off, we were pulled over by a group of metro authorities to show our tickets, which we both had tossed. Because we showed them that we had other tickets for later rides, they gave us a break and charged us both a 35 euro fine. We have never seen this happen but randomly saw it going on in other stations, so perhaps they are figuring out new ways to put cash in the system?

Dinner was at Sensation, a new spot in the 11th, where many other restaurants reside, a relatively new neo-bistrot with Cantonese roots. Delicious! We will be returning. I forgot to order the duck two days in advance, so it gives us a reason to go back.
Another day in Paris.
