Two official posters, the 27th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2025) has unveiled by Oscar-winning stop-motion animation director Adam Elliot, the director of the BIAF2024 Grand Prize-winning film, ‘Memoir of a Snail’
Ann Marie Fleming (BIAF2024 jury president) has praised the film for its delicate stop-motion animation, which explores life’s traumas with dark yet warm humor and childlike wonder. Fleming described it as “a unique work that delves into life’s traumas through intricate stop-motion animation, blending dark humor with a sense of childlike wonder.”’Memoir of a Snail’ has been recognized at major film festivals, including the Crystal Award at Annecy International Animation Festival, and it was nominated for the 97th Academy Awards.
Adam Elliot comments:
“The first poster’s theme is ‘Introspection’. I think it is part of the human condition to constantly worry about ourselves and that we are always looking inwards to find our true selves. This image is many things; self examination, introspection, self help, self analysis, narcism and egotism. As animators, I think the best stories come from deep within. Like our fingerprints, we are all unique, and if we look hard enough at ourselves, we can find deeper meanings about ourselves and the world around us.
“The second poster’s theme is ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’.
This man is someone I can relate to. I’m not sure why I made him, but he seems like someone I’d like to meet with and chat about life, the universe and everything. He iscertainly not a pretty man, but he seems quite comfortable in his skin. I always like people who are without ego or any sense of embarrassment about how they look. He seems like a very optimistic person, who no matter what the circumstance, would look on the brighter side of life and find silver linings.
The 27th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2025) will take place from October 24 to 28, 2025. S. Korea.
