Junior Co-production Market

The Junior Co-production Market is an integrated three-day co-production market that enables financiers, broadcasters and producers to assess new and innovative children’s projects across the film and television sectors.

The Junior Co-Production Market will take place from October 21 to 24.

Eligibility conditions

  • Submissions can be feature-length film projects or TV/serial/episodic projects, and can either be fiction, documentary, animation, or live action as well as crossover projects for an audience of 3-14 years old.
  • Submitted projects need to have at least 10% of the financing in place (excluding own investments), and a confirmed production company in the country of origin.

How to Apply

Projects can only be entered by submitting the following info in English via the entry form on our website:

  • A logline and synopsis.
  • Latest version of treatment or draft of the script (depending on project stage).
  • Short description of the main characters.
  • Scriptwriter’s statement
  • Director’s statement
  • Producer’s statement
  • Stage of development, language, anticipated length, target audience age, genre, live action / animation, original story/adaptation/remake.
  • Financial plan (including already secured finance and total budget).
  • Statement on diversity and inclusion.
  • Statement on sustainability.

Awards

3 awards will be given out in the upcoming Junior Co-Production Market:

  • Eurimages Co-production Development Award (€20,000)
  • PUBLIKUM Audience Awareness Award (€9,000)
  • Filmmore Post-production Award (€5,000)

Cinekid Script LAB

During the Cinekid Script LAB, an international group of writers and writer/directors will work on their children’s feature films or series. The programme offers tailor-made coaching and training; it answers to the specific writer’s and story’s needs, along a six-month trajectory.

The training was initiated by Cinekid in 2014, and takes place during Cinekid for Professionals in October, and the Berlinale the following February. An outline of the programme can be found here.

Application deadline: May 25, 2025

Points of focus are:

  • Offering a specific focus on writing for young audiences
  • Improving the writing and pitching skills of its participants
  • Development towards a new (and better) draft of their script or treatment
  • Connecting writers who are working on scripts for young audiences
  • Increasing the international network of its participants
  • Facilitating an exchange of knowledge among its participants

Who can apply?

Cinekid Script LAB is open to all writers attached to a feature-length film or television project aimed at children (3-14) and written from their perspective. A producer should be attached.

Cinekid Script LAB is supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme and is a collaboration between Cinekid for Professionals and European institutes such as: the Norwegian Film Institute, the Netherlands Film Fund, the Athens International Children’s Film Festival, the Icelandic Film Centre, the Flanders Audiovisual Fund and the Swedish Film Institute.
