Crunchyroll’s Summer Lineup: Latest Acquisitions And Returning Series

Straight from Los Angeles, California, come many of Crunchyroll’s latest news and announcements—the Crunchyroll Industry Panel returned to Anime Expo during the first week of July, revealing exclusive acquisitions and sneak-peek previews. Of the new titles so far revealed, Let’s Play premiered world-wide in the Platinum Ballroom at the JW Marriott July 3rd, with both creator Leeanne M. Krecic and director Daiki Tomiyasu revealing the series live.

Other premiered titles include Sentenced to Be a Hero, a world where prisoners not only serve their sentence as warriors against the demon army, but are revived just to die over and over again. The Rising of the Shield Hero continues for its 4th season, with the Japanese voice actor of Naofumi and Producer Ten Kimura to discuss how the latest season was developed. Sharing the stage with the two dark fantasies is Solo Camping for Two, as the special premiere was announced with voice actors Daiki Hamano and Mizuki Niizaki. Aside from Let’s Play, Crunchyroll also recently acquired the lighthearted comedies Otherworldly Munchkin: Let’s Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP  and With You and the Rain

Over 10 special premieres were screened during Anime Expo, featuring previews of the dark fantasy Clevatess and David Production’s first original anime, Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse. Some highlights for the upcoming summer are Nyaight of the Living Cat, Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4, To Your Eternity Season 3, May I Ask for One Final Thing?, and the launch of Gachiakuta, dubbed “the next big shonen series” by Crunchyroll. The latter revealed its main trailer and screened the first two episodes, building anticipation for its exclusive release on the streaming service July 6th. Additional promotional content has been put out, including a behind-the-scenes interview and immersive website.

“There’s a raw, emotional current in Gachiakuta that will resonate with fans the moment they see it,” Crunchyroll’s Chief Operating Officer Gita Rebbapragada commented. “These promotional efforts are designed to match the excitement and intensity of this remarkable story and hook them into an unforgettable narrative journey.”
