
Lost in Starlight, the first original Korean animated film from Netflix, will officially debut on May 30th, 2050. This highly anticipated release is directed by Han Ji-won, a rising talent making waves in the Korean animation industry. Kin Tae-ri and Hong Kyung have lent their voices to the film, making for a very talented team all around. Now that the countdown to the film’s premiere begins, Netflix has released an all-new teaser trailer and poster.
The teaser recently released gives fans a taste of what to expect in the upcoming film. The animation has a fantastical feel to it, from romantic sunsets to nostalgic touches in a 2050 setting—a fitting backdrop for the romance-to-be between Nan-young and Jay. The teaser starts out with the couple meeting for the first time, an introduction made more powerful by the film’s moving soundtrack. Renowned Korean director Bong Joon-ho has said “this visual masterpiece takes you around the universe,” building even more excitement for Lost in Starlight. The new poster depicts the two sitting on a record in front of 2025 Seoul, with more retro memorabilia sprinkled in.
Synopsis
While in pursuit of fixing her mom’s old record player, Nan-young meets Jay at an audio equipment repair shop, kickstarting a heartwarming romance between the astronaut and musician. However, the star-crossed lovers soon struggle to find balance between their love and personal dreams, as Nan-young will have to leave Jay in order to fulfil her dream of going to Mars. Lost in Starlight follows the couple as the navigate their love through the stars.
