The Crunchyroll Anime Awards ceremony streamed worldwide on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. JST (4:00 a.m. EST) on the company’s YouTube and Twitch channels. Fans cast a record 51 million votes worldwide for this year’s awards. The 10 most engaged countries in this year’s voting were (in alphabetical order): Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The show opened with Creepy Nuts‘ performance of Mashle: Magic and Muscles 2nd season’s opening song “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born.”
Dean Fujioka presented the first award of the show to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc for Best Animation. Other presenters include Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Chocolate Planet (Shōhei Osada and Shun Matsuo), Kanata Hongō, Mayu Matsuoka, Saya Ichikawa, Pabllo Vittar, Ben Whittaker, Damiano David, Ironmouse, d4vd, Rina Sawayama, Chloe Kim, Plastique Tiara, Paloma Mami, and Gigguk.
Solo Leveling ultimately dominated this year’s awards show, winning Anime of the Year and eight other awards: Best New Series, Best Ending Sequence, Best Action, Best Main Character, Best Score, and three Best Voice Artist Performance awards (English, Brazilian Portuguese, Castilian, and Spanish).
This year’s event also awarded the first Global Impact Award to the Attack on Titan anime. The award celebrates “visionary creators and groundbreaking works that have left an indelible mark on culture, history and the hearts of audiences around the world.”
