As expected, this is no ordinary city. Also, the comedy feels very familiar to our other predecessor, Nichijou.
As expected, the comedy in City feels very familiar. Indeed, the art style bears a striking resemblance. Of course, Midori works at the restaurant that Matsuri’s and Tatewaku’s parents own. The amusing thing is that the lucky item is a miniskirt, and he wears it after initially being reluctant to do so. The funny thing is that, of course, Matsuri and their father took a lot of pictures of him wearing the skirt, as he ran away from them.
His luck doesn’t get any better when their father throws fried noodles into his school bag, not once, but twice. Not only that, Midori and their father thought it was the old man’s bag. Yep, they even give him a free alcoholic drink to make it up, only to have a cork fly into his forehead after Midori tried to open it. They ended up having to apologize, although Matsuri’s dad didn’t want to. It’s amusing how there’s a spy camera where a man is watching what’s happening in the shop. When Tatewaku threw the hot bag, an enormous explosion occurred.
The funny thing is that the lady named Izumi took a picture of it. That is, until she discovers that she has lost her point card. Somehow, she manages to find it after smelling an ink jar, taking pictures of a shiitake mushroom, praying to some toy mouse-like figure and touching a flexible eraser. A police man found it by chance. Yep, she got fortunate there.
The first segment of the course involves Matsuri’s friend, Ecchan. Her abilities only manifest when Matsuri is around. Funny how it’s not the ability, but Matsuri that Ecchan is after. Funny how Matsuri tries to propose marriage as she hugs her, then gets thrown down by Ecchan, then makes a nice save. Also, their pastime is going home together, which is what you expect.
Eventually, Midori came back to the apartment, and it was amusing to see Ayumu in a humorous pose, taking pictures of broccoli. She is attending university and thinks Midori should attend. Yep, she tries to enter a photography contest, but she ends up losing. The amusing thing is that the winning photo was taken with a cellphone camera, which upsets Ayumu. Yes, she is trying to save up for a DSLR, but doesn’t she know that people who are serious about photography typically use a mirrorless camera? Also, smartphones have pretty good cameras these days. Overall, it’s a pretty good first episode
