Fire Force Season 3, Episode 1: Indomitable Resolve

Fire Force’s second season was released almost 5 years ago. As a result, Fire Force Season 3 Episode 1 is mostly a recap episode. It’s necessary considering the large gap between the seasons. For those who don’t know or have forgotten, Fire Force is a story’s set in a post-apocalyptic world now known as the Tokyo Empire. After something called “The Great Cataclysm,” people started spontaneously combusting—literally bursting into flames and turning into creatures called Infernals. Some humans adapted to the flames instead.

They’re known as second and third generation pyrokinetics. Second gens can control fire, while third gens can create it. Most of them end up joining the Special Fire Force, a group under the Holy Sol Temple, which is basically the main religion in this new world. Their job is to use their powers to save people and take down Infernals, even if it means putting their own lives on the line. The series focuses on Kusakabe Shinra.

He lost his mom and little brother, Sho, in a fire he got blamed for as a kid. Later, he found out the truth—his mom had turned infernal and burned the house down. His powers were actually awakened by Sho’s Adola Burst. Turns out, Sho was alive, and they even met, but things didn’t go well. Right after their reunion, Sho got taken away again, this time brainwashed by Haumea, the Second Pillar. As the team learned more about the Evangelist and the White-Clad, Shinra and Arthur started training harder to keep up with their enemies.

Captain Akitaru Obi is arrested

Company 8 has become the central force against the Evangelist and the White-Clad. As the crew continue to practice to improve their fighting skills. Their Captain, Akitaru Obi, debriefs the Chief at the Fire Defense Agency. He summarizes the events that have taken place in the previous seasons, reminding the audience of what has occurred and what the 8th company has accomplished so far. The Chief compliments Obi on his and the teams efforts but the moment is ruined when the Tokyo Imperial Army arrest Obi.

Elsewhere, Captain Leonard Burns, Karim Flam, Onyango, and Huo Yan Li are called to The Curia for a meeting. There, Raffles tells them the Empire needs to be unified more than ever. Suddenly, the White-Clad show up, shocking everyone. Raffles claims their help is the key to uniting the Empire. Leonard doesn’t buy it—he looks like he’s ready to throw hands at any second. Haumea steps in, using “Talking Head” to read his thoughts and tries to convince him they’re on the same side.

She points to Leonard’s eye as proof that he’s seen the truth, brushing off Karim’s claim that they’re just trying to bring back the Cataclysm. According to her, that’s just a step toward their real goal—turning the world into a sun like Sol did. The group is horrified, but when Haumea asks for proof of faith, Leonard kneels without hesitation.

The 8th seek to rescue Captain Obi

Company 8 learns that Captain Obi has been detained. Based on what they know, it’s pretty clear the army’s coming for Shinra next because of his Adola Burst. Arthur suggests trading Kusakabe for Akitaru, but Hinawa immediately shuts that down. He tells them he’s going to try and rescue the captain—knowing full well it’ll make him a traitor. He makes it clear he’s doing this as himself, not as their lieutenant, so he won’t be giving any orders. Of course, the rest of the crew refuses to let him go alone. Licht points out the obvious—that this move makes them enemies of the Empire. But Shinra and the others aren’t shaken. Company 8’s all in.

Fire Force Season 3 Episode 1 successful manages to reintroduce the series and remind us of what previously happened and what’s at stake. With the empire becoming more powerful and less disorganized, the White-Clad have become far more dangerous. Company 8 maybe brave enough to face them alone but they cannot succeed against the empire without aide.
