One of the aspects of this series that prevents from being among the best is it’s silly fanservice that distracts from the main story and action. At least this time it’s not Tamaki, but Captain Obi. In the last minutes of the previous episode, Obi was put in danger when a fire bug was placed on him. Somehow his abs are so strong that the bug cannot penetrate his skin. This makes no sense, as Captain Obi has no powers. The rationale is that he’s so “ripped”, that he can flex his muscle to prevent the bug from turning him. He must flex until the bug is removed because then the bug will then break his skin and turn him into an infernal. It’s dumb.
Dragon is too much for Arthur
Anyway, this episode is mainly about the fight between Destroyer Dragon and Arthur. This enemy fits right into Arthur’s Knight delusion. Dragon proves to be more difficult than the others. Arthur’s strength increases with his delusions, so as Dragons skin continues to prevent damage. Dragon has massive strength, speed, and, durability. He survives an attack from a super-heated plasma blade without issue. On top of this he can breath a stream of fire from his mouth. Finally, he’s capable of “Infernalizing,” his body, granting himself scales and wings.
For his part, Arthur shows off some of his own abilities. He’s able to generate a cloak of plasma. None of this matters as Arthur is badly wounded. The episode pivots back to Shinra and Burns. Shinra attacks but Captain Burns is unhurt. He powers up to the third level of his abilities. Hopefully, we get more from the fight between Shinra and Burns if they insist on showing glimpses. I prefer that they do away with unnecessary fanservice. However, I don’t think Arthur can defeat Dragon on his own. I wonder if someone else will help him or the rest of Company 8 will interfere.
