At PAX Unplugged 2024, All Ages of Geek caught up with Chris Solis from Solis Game Studio to talk about their latest project: the Massive-Verse Fighting Card Game. If you’ve ever dreamed of a card game that captures the energy of an arcade brawler, this might just be it. Oh yeah, and if you wondered what it would be like to find out you’re a Power Ranger in your 30s…well, here you go.
What is the Massive-Verse Fighting Card Game?
The Massive-Verse Fighting Card Game is a lightning-fast, head-to-head card game based on the Massive-Verse comics created by Kyle Higgins.
Unlike traditional trading card games, there’s no deckbuilding required. Each fighter comes with a pre-built deck, making it easy to jump straight into the action. Matches are quick, usually lasting between five and fifteen minutes, but every second is packed with tension.
Chris explained that the gameplay is simple to learn but rewards careful planning. Players secretly choose an ability card, place it face down, and then flip them over to clash. If you manage your moves right and time your attacks perfectly, you can land an “execute” to knock out your opponent instantly. But be warned—resting to recover your moves leaves you wide open to a deadly counterattack.
Fighters from the Massive-Verse
The roster pulls directly from the world of the Massive-Verse, with a full lineup of iconic characters. Radiant Black is a fighter who can survive an execution and come back swinging. Rogue Sun stands strong through adversity, pushing past any setback. draws power from his enemies, turning their strengths against them, while Cataclysm drains life and energy in ruthless ways.
You’ll also meet fighters like The Dead Lucky, who gathers her crew mid-battle to power up, and Pyre, who burns through his cards for fiery, devastating attacks. Inferno Girl Red thrives when she’s winning but struggles if she falls behind, and The Griffin unleashes powerful combos at the risk of his own stamina.

Bonus characters like Radiant Red, Radiant Pink, Radiant Yellow, Shift, and the villainous 5yndicate round out the roster, offering even more variety for players who want to dive deep into different strategies.
What’s Included in the Bundle

The full bundle comes packed with everything you need to start battling right away. You’ll get the Massive-Verse Fighting Card Game, the official Massive-Verse Playmat featuring art by Dan Mora, the Syndicate Promo Character Pack, and a Holo Character Pack that includes 13 holographic character cards. All the cards are also cross-compatible with other Pocket Paragons products, opening up even more ways to play.

How the Game Came Together
Chris shared that the core system behind the game, Pocket Paragons, has been in development for about ten years. Designer Brian McKay first started bouncing ideas around nearly a decade ago, and the team has been refining it ever since.
The Massive-Verse set marks the eighth expansion, and it’s clear the community has embraced it. Events like EVO, CEO, and Smash Bros tournaments have been great spots for players to discover the game—offering a quick, competitive experience between matches of traditional fighting games.
