Sakamoto Days Episode 11 Review: Casino Battle (Finale)


The crew are tasked with facing Wutang in high stakes battle to learn who issued Sakamoto’s bounty. They need to win more chips that their opponent in the time limit. They split the chips among themselves, Sakamoto gets 1,500, Shin and Lu each get $1,000. Sakamoto and Wutang compare the differences between assassins and triad, and how luck factors into their lives. The casino only has three kinds of games, baccarat, blackjack, and poker. Shin comically doesn’t know how to play any of the games. As a result, his powers aren’t as useful.

Despite this he manages to accidentally win the hand and earn 1,200 chips. At the roulette table, Sakamoto puts all his chips on red, while keeping one. The table is rigged with magnets. Sakamoto uses his last chip to tip his ball into the correct place, winning 3,000 chips. Wutang isn’t concerned. He can count cards, which means he can keep track of cards and predict the likely hood of the next ten cards. Wutang flashes back to his childhood and his experiences with Lu. She praises him for his intelligence, claiming it’s his strength.

What are Slurs plans

At the end of time, both sides have 87,630 chips each. To break the tie, they play old maid. Unfortunately, Lu has the old maid. She doesn’t even hide the fact that she has it. Wutang takes the old maid off her hands which isn’t how the games played. Shin assumes that he still has the advantage but Wutang knows that Shin can read minds. He asks him “how deeply can you read?” He explains that the “three levels of consciousness.” Shin tries to read Wutang’s mind and is overwhelmed, and passes out.

Eventually, it’s just Sakamoto and Wutang. Sakamoto cheats and switches the cards. The game ends when they the triad turn on Wutang fearing he’ll lose. He tricks them into think that guns are rigged to explode when fired and they drop them. Sakamoto takes them all out when they do. Wutang is the latest to join the crew as a “triad consigliere”. He reveals that Slur is the one responsible for his bounty. Wutang also tells them that Slur has fakes the deaths of four death row inmates who have fled Japan. The inmates are, Dump, Saw, Apart, and Minimalist. They’re all murders who have been sentenced to death. Of course, they’re sent to kill Sakamoto and his crew.
