Shuumatsu Touring – Episode 9 – Youko and Airi Experience the Last Race at the Motegi

While Youko seems happy after doing laps on the track, but it feels not the same.

Last time, Youko and Airi arrived at the Mobility Resort Motegi after visiting Kasumigaura to collect some stamps. However, Youko was so excited to race on the track with her electric bike, but she had a disappointing experience. However, there is someone who can give the expertise Youko is looking for.

Last time, Youko raced the track, but she seemed disappointed with her lap. It’s not too surprising, since in her “visions,” it doesn’t feel like the experience of racing on a gasoline motorcycle. Even after several laps around the track with Airi, she felt that going around the track wasn’t the same.

They find themselves in a racing museum.

In the evening, as Youko and Airi are about to leave Motegi, a bunch of voices call out to her. They eventually went into the museum building. The interesting thing is that the museum seems untouched for several years. Interesting how Youko and Airi walked into the electricity room and pulled the power switch.

Somehow, they flicked the switch without getting zapped.
At least there is a guide to show them around.

While it seemed violent after Youko and Airi pulled the switch, the whole facility’s lights came on, and, surprisingly, everything seemed untouched and pristine. Eventually, a robot woke up at Youko, and Airi discovered a room to come to greet them. The robot’s name is ISAAQ. He guides Youko and Airi around the museum, showing off the various cars and bikes used for racing. Of course, since nobody has been there for years, he allowed Youko and Airi to sit in the bike and even in cars.

Yes, Youko and Airi can sit on the bikes on exhibit.
Youko even sit on this fast looking one.
Youko and Airi are happy they can race on the track with real racing bikes and cars.
First, they have to do some maintenance first.
Youko overslept yet again.

Eventually, ISAAQ allows Youko to take a fast bike on display at the track. However, ISSAQ is the only one that can help tune the bike before it’s ready. Airi and Youko offered to help. The funny thing is that Youko dozed off in a dream in which she was about to race on the track with Chitose, only to wake up and see Youko on the track. Airi eventually wakes her up, and Youko finds out she has been sleeping until noon. It makes me wonder what causes this to happen.

At least Airi prepared a racing suit beforehand.
Youko gets ready to ride the bike.
Airi joins in on the fun.
It’s starting to feel like a real race.
This is one way to solve the height issue.

That said, Airi provides her with a racing suit and a helmet. While it took Youko a while to get used to the bike, it was what she had envisioned. Eventually, Airi joins in using a remote-controlled Honda racing car using a racing rig and a VR headset. It’s evident that it’s feeling like an actual race, and eventually the souls in Motegi appeared as many bikes and cars suddenly appear, racing with Youko to the finish line. Also, Youko saw an audience too.

Youko feels like she is racing with others.
Sadly, the illusion is over just like that.

However, that illusion ended when Youko crossed the finish line and almost had an accident. Thankfully, she stopped suddenly. When she told Airi what happened, Airi said she didn’t see what Youko envisioned. Suddenly, they saw white lights, which represented the spirits of Motegi.

At least Youko had fun.
Youko sends off the souls from Motegi.

Still, the visions Youko has are only of these visions. I feel that with the checkups, they haven’t said anything. It makes it credible that Youko is a clone of the original who has lost the memories of her former self. While this episode feels like an advertisement for Honda, at least Youko comes away satisfied that she got to experience the thrill of racing on the track.
