The remaining hunter are ordered to return to Jeju Island but are understandably afraid. At the cave, Jinwoo uses the shadow of Byung-Gu to heal Hunter Cha. There is some question on the ethics of summoning Byung-Gu especially because he’s human. Jinwoo uses his shadow ability without the consent of the others. I think some might agree to it but others wouldn’t. It’s shady, but better than losing promising hunters. Regardless, Jinwoo releases Byung-Gu.
The red ants begin to attack. Without their Queen or King they’re out of control. Jinwoo remains on the island to kill then rest of the ants and eggs. He continues to gain points from the eggs and finally reaches level 100. He then extracts the shadow of the Ant King. This shadow has the ability to speak and asks for a name. Jinwoo names him, Beru. Then he begins to extract the shadow from the other dead red ants. Jinwoo sends Beru to kill the remaining ants. Beru travels at high speeds cutting them down.
Some of the red ants have flown to different countries. We get introduced to Lui Zhigang, who destroys the ants with ease. The heroes that died are honored. Jinwoo reveals that he wants to start his own guild. Japan has lost almost half of their S-Ranks. Meanwhile, Cha Hae-In realizes the limits of her power. Jinwoo has inspired her to change, she didn’t do much in the fight but neither did anyone else.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 13 was a perfect ending to this season. Jinwoo continues to be impressive as he climbs up the ranks. However, at this point he’s reached S-Ranked and level 100 so I don’t know how far he can really go. That said his rise isn’t normal so he’ll definitely will find a way to get even stronger. The remaining villains are likely going to be even stronger than the Ant King. I wonder if this series will find away to make the other S-Ranked Hunters more useful. If they continue to get slaughtered only for Jinwoo to save them then it’s going to get boring. Overall, another great season.
