Yoo Jinho is left speechless the moment he lays eyes on Sung Jinwoo’s shadow army. The shadow soldiers move like a well-oiled machine, wiping out magic beasts and even gathering the dungeon’s essence stones with ease. Elsewhere, in a dark dungeon across the globe, an American hunter freezes in fear as a wild-eyed man slowly approaches him. “I want to go home,” the stranger says, his voice hoarse.
After the raid, Jinwoo and Jinho celebrate hitting the guild raid requirements with beer and BBQ. Jinho knows he still needs to pass the written exam and convince his father, Yoo Myung-Han, to hand him control of their family guild, but he’s almost there. A little drunk, Jinho admits that he and his older brother don’t get along, and he wishes Jinwoo was his older brother instead. Jinwoo smiles and says warmly, “From now on, you’re my little brother.”
Meanwhile, the ragged man from the dungeon sits silently in a holding cell. Two officials discuss his bizarre story—that he’s been trapped inside a dungeon for ten years. They’re skeptical and wonder if he might actually be a humanoid magic beast. Since he barely speaks English, they call in S-Rank Hunter Hwang Dongsoo to translate. And the man’s name? Sung Il-Hwan.
The Demon King’s Castle
Jinwoo preps for a week-long trip to the Demon King’s Castle. His sister, Sung Jinah, points out how busy he’s been lately, but Jinwoo can’t focus on much beyond the Elixir of Life. He’s determined to gather the ingredients needed to cure his mom, Kyung-Hye, of her strange illness. As he steps into the castle, the system hits him with a brutal quest: kill 10,000 magic beasts. For his mom’s sake, he doesn’t hesitate and accepts.
Meanwhile, Jinho formally asks his father, Yoo Myung-Han, to let him take over the Yoojin Guild from his older brother. Myung-Han is doubtful but agrees, with one condition: Jinwoo must join the guild. Jinho jumps at the chance and agrees immediately.
Back at the castle, Jinwoo grinds through the floors, leveling up as he climbs the tower. To make things faster, he summons a shadow ice bear and names it “Tank.” By the time he reaches the 50th floor, he’s face-to-face with Avaricious Vulkan—a massive, fast, and terrifyingly smart boss monster. The fight pushes Jinwoo to his limits, but thanks to his skill and strategy, he takes Vulkan down.
Evolved magic beast and the hidden truth
Meanwhile, S-Rank Hunter Cha Hae-In reflects on the evolved magic beasts she saw on Jeju Island with Choi Jong-In. She wonders why the truth is being kept a secret, but Choi tells her it’s better to stay prepared and keep the public in the dark for now.
In America, Hwang Dongsoo interrogates Sung Il-Hwan, who reveals that dungeons and magic beasts are just the beginning of something much worse. Hwang finds out Il-Hwan has a son named Jinwoo and smugly warns that he’ll make sure both father and son end up dead. Il-Hwan isn’t having it—he completely overpowers Hwang, destroys the building, and leaves him unconscious before disappearing.
Jinwoo, meanwhile, hits a wall on the 75th floor, running out of time and supplies. Still, the journey isn’t a waste—he racks up some solid level gains, picks up another secret dungeon key, and secures two out of three components for the Elixir of Life. With a promise to return and finish what he started, Jinwoo moves forward.
